Hear what the guys say about the group:
"It's great to see a group of ordinary guys committed to finding
ways to bring our faith into everyday life. No smoke and mirrors, no
pretensions -- just open, honest discussions. And coffee. Don't forget
coffee."
--Ted Toerpe
"It gives me a chance to listen to the Life Experiences of other
men. - They've made it much more easy for me to understand my faith. I
think I'm starting to get it. Jesus was The Man!"
--Steve Boehm
"I find that the struggles among men are shared concerning growing our faith in this world. It is great to hear men
share their ways of dealing with this."
-- Richard Boomsliter

This is a very special event
Father Michael has
announced that he will be leaving MQH next year. Does anyone have
an idea of something we could do for him? Party, gift, help
moving? The Men’s Group got its start under his leadership and
influence. Not only its start but it has flourished as evidenced
by Sat Nov 20th attendance (17 strong). Although he has not been a
visible participant, he has been a staunch supporter and guide.
What is Men's Group?
A collection of men in the Catholic faith who desire to grow
spiritually as well as learn how to better use our God given talents in
this life. Together we share in life’s struggles, joys, projects, fun
and also an occasional beer or two.
What do you do?
We have bi-weekly meetings in the MQH meeting facility where the
Gospel is shared and then interpreted into our everyday lives. How can
the readings help us in our situation or condition now? How have we seen
the Word of God played out in our lives or those who we know? How are we
using the talents that were entrusted to us? This is often a lively and
resourceful exchange among those in attendance.
The group is also involved in a variety of other activities such as
service projects for the church or community, Packer parties, Brewer
game outings, golf outings, etc. We are always open to new ideas. We
also reach out and gather with our brothers in neighboring parishes.
When do you meet?
Well, this is for the strong willed, well disciplined, manly type of
man who can rise up on a Saturday morning and attend at 7:00 a.m.
That’s right, 7:00 A.M. on a weekend morning! Are we nuts? No, we are
devoted. The meeting time minimally impacts a weekend schedule allowing
men to participate in the gathering as well as meet their weekend
obligations. It is worth it!
In the summer months we move to Monday evenings as the activity on
the weekends pick up with vacation and outdoor activities. The meetings
are at 6:30 p.m. as we share the Gospel readings over a beer together.
(Hey, if Theology on Tap can do it…)
Why me?
Because no man is an island. We are created to travel this journey
together, support one another in God’s name. It is a calling. It is
through you that our lives can be enriched and hopefully your life will
be enriched through us.
Check us out! Our schedule is on the right side of
the page. Thanks for reading this far and we hope to see you soon either
at our meetings or at one of our events!
