CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION

We encourage all women of the parish to join our Christian Women’s Organization, whose purpose is:  to enrich personal spirituality, make friends, and serve the parish.

Our annual agenda consists of 3 spiritual meetings,  (ex: living rosary), fun filled meetings, (ex: pot luck dinner in April, Christmas party in Dec.) and special events, (ex: Oct. morning of reflection, Feb. mother/son breakfast, April baby shower for Mary, mother of Jesus – gifts going to the MACCW Layette to be distributed to Catholic Charities & Birth Rite).  Our major fund raising events include the November Cookie Walk, an all parish bake sale, and the festival chicken dinner and craft sale.

We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month, September through May, at 7:00 pm in the Notre Dame room or Gym.

ST. BEN’S MEAL PROGRAM

This meal program serves guests free meals at St. Benedict the Moor Church at tenth and State Streets in Milwaukee.  MQH has been involved in the meal program for thirty-one continuous years.  MQH furnishes mashed potatoes, meatloaf and gravy, and desserts to an average number of about 340 individuals.

ST VINCENT DEPAUL SOCIETY

This Society provides many avenues to help other parishioners and residents in the West Allis and surrounding area, by collecting and distributing non-perishable food items, paper goods, and other needed items.  We also assist with the Saint Vincent de Paul south side meal program, providing volunteers to help serve the meal, and providing 40 gallons of milk per visit.

  SHARE PROGRAM

Held in conjunction with the St Vincent de Paul Society, food items are gathered into baskets for persons who have ordered in advance for a nominal fee, and then delivered to persons who cannot come in to pick them up.

  SHARING SUNDAY

This committee meets once at the beginning of the year to dedicate each sharing Sunday to a specific charity.  They organize volunteers to run the pancake breakfast after mass, once a month, on Sharing Sundays.

  BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY

Usually meet the 2nd or 3rd Saturday at 11 am to 12:30 pm.  Provides a safe harbor for those who wish to express their feelings associated with their grief in the loss of a loved one or some other loss that may have occurred.

  LIFE CHAIN

Once a year, usually in October, in conjunction with the Archdiocesan event, MQH participates by holding signs informing the general public the truth about abortion and a return to respect for life.  We meet in the church parking lot and go as a group to our assigned standing place along Highway 100.  Watch the bulletin.

HOME VISITORS TO THE SICK

Often times, when people are not able to come to Mass, they appreciate receiving Holy Communion in their homes.  This involved picking up a host, (usually at Communion time) and taking it to their home.  This is usually done on Sundays, but it is also done at a mutually convenient time for all involved.  Contact Fr Jeff or Fr Thomas at 414-328-5566.

HOSPITAL MINISTRY (Eucharistic)

On Thursdays and the last two Sundays of the month, representatives from MQH distribute communion at West Allis Memorial Hospital.  Teams work according to a schedule and the list of Catholic patients is divided among them.

Your choice of Thursdays, or, one or both of the Sundays of the month after the 8:30 Mass is available.  Communion is distributed and if time permits, a short time is spent with patients.  This takes approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours.
